My own cocoon

within my cocoon
Photo by Puvi Joshi (Mint Icetea Photography)

Yes, I am sad
I am lonely
I am depressed
I live within my own shell,
my own cocoon

It is a deep hollow place
that nobody is aware of
isolated, dark and colorless
unexposed and unexplored

But I love this gloomy darkness
as it embraces me tight
keeps me warm and safe
protects me from the evil light
and the venomous colors piercing through

My cocoon is my own world
my own home, my own nest
I don't want to come out of it
and taste the fake and pretentious beauty outside!

My dear friend and Bro
Micah proofreads most of my work before I publish it on my blog. Thanks a lot Bro!!
He shared this version with me on the same theme.

The meadow outside the window is green and sun lit,
but my window will remain closed and the curtains drawn,
maybe I can't smell the roses,
but at least my fingers aren't covered in thorns.

our cocoon, our nest, our room..
we can give so many names..
but little privacy where we are no one but ourselves is the best place to be :)

Maybe i understand what this means maybe i don't. But let me tell u this Valli deep within all of us are comfortable and snug in our own cocoons. Because at the end of everything the only one we can really trust is us.
Truly spoken, sincere and i can relate to this feeling. That's another thing that i can't compose something so beautiful as u have done.
Micah has added something that makes yours richer...it sort of sums up why one feels comfortable in that supposedly dark cocoon.

Ending verse is beautiful. And it's always great if you have someone to read your work before publishing. :)

I loved the lines where you have written evil light/piercing.

Beautifully composed lines. Its true that the house is every woman's cocoon. Its perhaps the safest place for a woman now.

Can this 'cocoon' be someone's choice or one is bound to live in it?

The last two lines ... I don't think I can say anything. They are magical. Among the great lines I have ever come across.

that's how we feel when we are depressed, but as the mind begins to clear, and the original self returns, i'm sure we start loving all the bright and beautiful things outside, and then no more we want to be in a cocoon.

Wow this is expressed so well! Happy to be in our cocoon rather than the evil light outside.. Loved the interpretation by your friend ' maybe I can't smell the roses but at least my fingers aren't covered in thorns'
