Loneliest whale in the world

(Image taken from here)

I recently read this article on whale....I felt so so sad....I wish someone reads its signal...

The signal was recorded in the northeast Pacific

Blue whales usually vocalize at 15–20 Hz, fin whales at 20. But, this whale sends signals at 52 Hz, that sadly goes unheard.

They feel
I roam around this ocean
like its all mine
But, who knows over here
nothing is fine?

I have no family
I have no friends
A long search for companion,
don't know when it comes to end

To initiate friendship
I send signals.....
But alas! I get no response
I wonder are they ignored
or totally unheard

I see other creatures
forming groups, making friends
and having great time
I silently cry thinking
when will God start my good time?

Endlessly...
I wander, I search, I signal
Wishing someone, somewhere
somehow catches my signal..

Lovely poem, Valli. The thoughts and the loneliness of the great whale is so wonderfully expressed. I couldn't help but extrapolate the same feelings for people who have achieved great heights in their field, even they are essentially lonely people who don't have anybody to share their thoughts with. Love your blog, following you through GFC :)

Whales are one of the most delightful creatures and I dedicated a full post to Whale watch and have been lucky to see them from a very close quarter at sea:) Nice writing Valli!

They communicate in specific frequencies below our hearing range which can travel longer distances. They do have families. However, your question "why does nobody like me?" is perhaps aimed at us humans. Due to the noise pollution that we are creating in the ocean, including usage of ships, sonar for our communication etc, they are unable to communicate properly among themselves. So yes, whales are becoming lonely, but it is because of us.

True!...We are one of the reasons for their loneliness...But, The story of this whale is bit different....This whale sends signals which are of 52 Hertz...Higher than the range of sounds used by other whales....

That's an interesting angle to view it from.

Oh god, I heard his voice, it's like..so serene..and ever hopeful..it's not a lonely whale! it's the biggest mammal in the world showing the whole world how to live on despite 1.freezing cold 2.being alone 3.no love .. it's showing how the entire world is yours (in his case - the aquatic world ;)) !! Loved it.. thanks for giving us the article link too! Awesome dedication! Kudos to 52 Hertz!
